Director of the Institute of Mechatronics
Competition for the position of director of the Institute of Mechatronics at Kaunas University of Technology
Through its high-level research and studies in mechatronics, robotics and smart technologies, the Institute of Mechatronics develops innovative solutions for industry and society, responding to the needs of modern technological progress and digitalisation. The Institute prepares future scientists capable of creating, integrating and applying advanced mechanical, electronic, computer science and control systems in various fields of engineering.
The Institute’s vision is to operate as an internationally recognised centre of excellence in mechatronics and robotics, actively contributing to the development of advanced technologies, their transfer to industry and innovation development, thereby strengthening the technological competitiveness of Lithuania and the region.
Job description
Planning and organising the Institute’s strategic activities; ensuring the quality of studies, research and innovation activities conducted by the Institute; managing human resources and assets; and ensuring the quality of the research, experimental development and innovation (R&D) activities conducted by the Institute;
Performing other functions of the director specified in the University's Statute and the job description of the Institute's director (you can learn more about the Institute’s activities at https://mechatronics.ktu.edu/).
Requirements
Hold a doctoral degree in the field of technological or natural sciences;
Have at least 5 (five) years of experience in research, managerial and organisational work;
Have experience leading international-level research and experimental development projects or parts thereof;
Have experience in the commercialisation of R&D results and technology transfer;
Have research work experience abroad;
Know the specifics and prospects of implementation of the main fields of the Institute’s research;
Meet the requirements for the position of chief researcher, set out in the Guidelines of Kaunas University of Technology for the Organisation of Performance and Competency Evaluation, Certification and Competitions for the Job Positions of Teachers and Researchers, approved by the resolution of the Senate of Kaunas University of Technology (No. V3-S-10 of 23 January 2019);
Be familiar with the processes taking place in the European higher education, research and innovation area, as well as the documents regulating higher education;
Excellent knowledge of the Lithuanian language;
A minimum level C1 in the English language.

A free-form application for participation in the competition, addressed to the Rector;
A 5-year operational guidelines (a description of the proposed vision and priority objectives for the Institute);
A curriculum vitae (CV);
A brief description of research activities and a list of scientific publications;
A copy of the doctoral diploma;
A verified certificate of proficiency in the Lithuanian language at the Category III level, if Lithuanian is not the applicant’s native language;
A verified certificate (issued no more than 2 years ago) of proficiency in the English language at the level C1, if English is not the candidate’s native language;
Other additional documents reflecting the candidate’s research, academic or managerial activities, qualifications or abilities (at the candidate’s discretion).
Salary offered
6318 - 7020 EUR gross (i.e., before taxes).
Employment contract
A fixed-term employment contract (5-year term of office).
