Academic career paths

Teachers at the University not only impart knowledge and educate students, but also actively contribute to improving the quality of studies. The teacher's career path includes the following stages: a lecturer and senior lecturer, a junior assistant and assistant, an associate professor and professor.

Researchers at the University carry out research activities in the positions of junior researchers, researchers, senior or chief researchers.

How to become a KTU academic employee?
The competition for academic positions is held once a year in June.
Academic staff are recruited at a minimum of 0,25 FTE for a period of five years.
The procedure and requirements for the competition are provided in the guidelines.

Opportunities for teachers practitioners
The positions of professor practitioner, associate professor practitioner and lecturer practitioner provides an opportunity for professionals to share current market trends and practical knowledge with the University's students.
Requirements for a teacher practitioner are:
- Currently active in their professional field outside the academic environment;
- Have significant professional experience or achievements;
- Meet the University's competences for a teacher.

Opportunities for visiting academic staff
You can work as a visiting teacheror visiting researcher at the University.
Requirements for visiting academic staff:
- You must be teaching or conducting research at another higher education institution.
- Your qualifications must meet the requirements of a leading or established researcher.
